Task Forces - Political Action Task Force (PATF)

Current Leader:

Sharif Aref

Objective:

To cultivate a new political consciousness among Muslim college students; to encourage and provide resources for MSA chapters to become more politically active.

Scope:

Ever since 9/11, the need for a coordinated Muslim political movement at the student level has become especially obvious. A strong and confident Muslim voice is needed to deal effectively with the many challenges we are facing. Unfortunately, several MSA chapters have been hesitant in reacting to the political situations at both the domestic and international levels. The newly established Political Action Task Force (PATF) seeks to fill some of these gaps and address these new challenges. The PATF will set the pace, encouraging and helping MSA chapters in staging rallies, protests, and teach-ins. We must build clear lines of communication between MSAs and PATF to spearhead a united political movement.

Goals:

  • Voter Registration

  • Muslim Issue Awareness

  • Political Statements and responses

  • Surveys and feedback to National PATF

  • Coordination with CAIR and National PATF
