Executive Board Meeting

Present: Ramy, Zeshahn, Hodhaifa, Maher, Shan, Rania, Hany, Nousseiba

Absent: Ayman

 

1.      Opening Du'a by Hodhaifa

 

3.      Outreach

§         Jummah

·         Khatib for this week not scheduled yet

·         Need to send out an e-mail to the list asking who would be interested in doing Jummah.

·         Start lining up Khatibs for the upcoming Jummahs

§         Islamic Week

·         Looked into the week and it varies between the different Universities

·         People in the past have shown the Mohammad movie and the Islamic Empire movie

·         Doing it in the fall would be better then doing it in the winter semester

·         Need to make this event huge

·         Option: one day or build up to a huge event

·         Usually people make it a week long and everyday of the week

·         Wayne State in the past had a couple events leading up to Siraj Wahab  talking in the end

·         Get ideas from different campuses – tent idea

·         Brainstorm for the week – NEEDS TO BE HUGE

 

4.      Public Relations

§         Picnic

·         Giving Hinid the fliers on Wednesday

·         TMA and MSA will be sharing the PR on campus

·         Need to e-mail the list more frequently. Send out picnic e-mails one every 5 days

·         Invite the different schools – either send them a special flier or a special email. U of M already been contacted. Going to contact HFCC, MSU and Oakland

 

5.      Finance

§         Hodhaifa will be out of town until next week. Ramy will keep updating

§         If you need to be reimburse then you have to e-mail Hodhaifa.

§         Plan for raising money needs to be finalized

§         Mailed out pledge letters

 

6.      On Campus

§         Both made tentative schedules

§         Hany’s proposal:

·         Welcome Week – Madden and Halo tournament. Winner gets $10 gift certificate – try not to do that because we’ve done it a few times before

·         MSA Movie Club – get together every 2 weeks to go watch a movie

·         Ramadan – not planning on having social during the day but after Iftar a few times maybe we can go to Shatila.

§         Eid – cosponsored with TMA in the gym. We can do broomball and the obstacle course

·         Sisters for eid could have a party

·         Eid social should be a huge celebration something on campus both collaborated and try not to do something as last year

§         Weight lifting

§         Tournaments – basketball, MSA poker tournament – Poker might be a problem

§         Get peoples input survey them

§         MSA could do a movie night with SAB – cosponsored

§         For the social ideas need to be build on

 

7.      Education

§         List made with speakers contacts – making tentative schedule

 

8.      IT

§         Going to Alim, but should be able to complete anything that needs to be done

§         Need to find something new for the website so that people can visit it again.

§         Hits on the websites are a bit higher then before

§         Email template for photoshop to Shan

 

9.      Picnic

10. Misc

§         Meetings – from now on going  to be at 3:30 on Mondays

§         MSA rep coming July 20 – Zeshahn will be reserving them

§         Need to sell the tickets for the Islamic Relief Concert
