Executive Board Meeting

Present: Ramy, Zeshahn, Shan, Ayman, Maher, Hodhaifa and Nousseiba

Absent: Hany, and Rania

 

1.      Opening Du'a by Shan

 

2.      Picnic – went around the room and asked for each eboard’s feelings on it

§         Ayman – good activities, it was fun, serving food needed to be a bit more organized

§         Hodhaifa – Guy’s activities were good, not sure about the girls, the food was good. Overall liked the picnic

§         Maher – horrible at the beginning, there was miscommunications, didn’t get to do tug-of-war. Serving food need a bit more organization. At the end needed to be a bit more organized and structured

§         Shan – strength: attendance, activities and promoting was good. Weaknesses – outsourcing duties, played more then worked

§         Zeshahn – food was good but a bit burnt, chicken served at the end wasn’t good, working with the other groups was a bit disappoint – not satisfied with that.

§         Ramy – If all the event go the same way the picnic went, then we will fail as an organization

·         Activities – needed more organization, lack on girls side

·         Food was pretty good, and we got great prices on them

·         Attendance – terrible. Had about 80 people there when we wanted 150-200. We wanted all of the MSA’s there.

¨        Both Wayne and TMA brought a good amount of people – Dearborn didn’t bring that many people. Need to work on promoting.

¨        Sending out the postcards was good and the text messages

·         Food Organization – had the tables but didn’t have it organized

·         Grills were a big problem

·         Outsourcing a problem – came 2 hours late

¨        Gave the different organizations task – doing it the day of (not good)

·         Maybe have a meeting before to know what was going on

·         Last year more people attended

·         Recommendation – next year MSA will do it by itself. If others want to cosponsor then they can do it financially.

·         Every eboard member needs to pull their weight

·         Overall picnic was a negative

 

3.      Islamic Relief Concert

§         If people would like to donate money then they can donate it to Islamic Relief

§         Islamic Relief wants to sell out with in the next 2-3 days

§         Looking for 20 volunteers, all the eboard members will sign up

4.      Finance

§         Talk to the other 2 organization about the picnic and splitting up the bills. Stay on them for it. Have it done by the end of this week

§         Reimburse people

§         Reserve Ford Performing Arts

 

5.      Education

§         Of the speakers contacted, 3 have contacted back saying they will be able to do it.

·         Suleiman – September 13

·         Dr. Ramzi – October 11

§         Can’t have food every week – maybe every other week, or every 3 weeks

 

6.      Outreach

§         Jummah – it will be suspended for the rest of the summer because of the attendance. It will reconvene at the start of the fall semester.

·         Have an e-mail sent out telling the list about it

§         Islamic Awareness – November – maybe 3rd week

·         Monday – Thursday

·         Look up different things and activities that can happen

·         Tent idea can happen – eboard is in favor of it

·         Can show the Message or the PBS documentary – Legacy of the Prophet

·         Look at MSA zone for ideas

 

7.      On-Campus

§         Do you two even talk to plan out things – you two should start planning

§         Eid socials on the weekend after Eid

§         Community Service

·         Call Masjids and find out if they need help with anything.

·         Need to do more Muslim community service

·         Get a lot more people involved for the community service

§         Have a calendar for socials and community service

§         Have a social first or second week – talk to SAO about what they have planned for welcome week

§         Maybe have rubber bands to give away or sell

 

8.      IT

§         Told Rania to make a survey for the website to ask everyone what they want

 

9.      MISC

§         Zeshahn didn’t talk to Karen about the room for the conference

§         Ahmad Sidky will be coming this Thursday June 20

§         Unity and diversity will be discussed next week inshallah
