Executive Board Meeting

Start time: 3:40 - End Time: 5:04

Present: Ramy, Zeshahn, Shan, Ayman, Maher (late), Farhan Latif (for a short bit)

Absent: Hany, Rania, Hod, Nous

1. Opening Du'a didn’t have one…tisk tisk

2. Picnic

§ Public Relations

· The email for the picnic needed to be sent out last week not yesterday.

· Need more advertising

· Tell each school – try e-mailing their list.

· E-mail the MI Council and have them forward it to their lists

§ Can’t get inflatables because it is too costly

§ The 3 campuses eboard needs to be there by 10 am

§ Responsibilities:

· Food: need to call TMA and find out where the food is coming from, who is getting it, need details and final prices for the items

· Paper Products: MSA-UMD – plates, cups (depending on if we are getting cans or bottles for pop), forks, foil trays, aluminum foil, serving utensils. Ramy will be purchasing them on Thursday

· Drinks & Ice: MSA-Wayne – pop (bottles or cans), water, ice

· Each group responsible for 2 grills and 2 coolers. Ramy will be checking with Bilal on the grill situation. Otherwise Maher is responsible for finding 2 grills

§ Games – 2 of the following

· Zeshahn will talk to Brian from the athletic department to find out if we can borrow their stuff

¨ Football

¨ Soccer

¨ Volley ball

¨ Frisbee

¨ Volleyball nets – maybe getting them from Muhi and Chady

· Potato sac race?

· Tug-of-War: ropes from MSA office

§ Pictures – there will be both planned ones and random ones. The photographers will be Shan, Muhi, and Aisha Siddiqui

§ Each organization needs to bring their organization banner

§ Contacting Responsibilities

· Ayman – needs to call Wayne find out what they’ve done, need to bring their banner, 2 grills, 2 coolers and the ebaord needs to be at the park by 10

· Ramy – will be contacting TMA

3. MI Council Conference

§ Conference Date: February 16-18, 2007

§ Problem: where are we going to serve food during the conference

· Talk to Vice Chancellor to get suggestions

§ MSA National will be making the program

§ July 20 – a representative from MSA National is coming to check out the location for the site

§ Have Farhan added to the MI Council list

4. Outreach

§ Jummah – planning on cancelling Jummah for the rest of the summer. This Friday Ramy will give Jummah to see if we should continue Jummah or not for the rest of the summer semester

§ Islamic Awareness Week – wanted to look at the fall schedule before deciding a date for the week.

· Tentative date November

· Need to come up with a tentative program for Monday – Thursday for Islamic Awareness Week

§ Whyislam.org – a suggestion from a member saying to check it out and maybe MSA could do something similar to it.

5. Education

§ A speakers list has been made with their contact information

§ E-mailed 10-12 speakers asking them to do a halaqa – gave them a specific topic and a certain date in the email

6. On-Campus – not present so didn’t discuss

7. Finance – not present so didn’t discuss
