Executive Board Meeting

Start: 6:20 pm - End: 7:14 pm

 

Present: Ramy, Zeshahn, Ayman, Hodhaifa, Maher, Shan, Nousseiba

 

1.      Opening Du'a by Hodhaifa

 

2.      Picnic

§         Activities: Water Slide, Obstacle Course

§         Other Possible activities – Suggestions from MI Council: sports and food eating contest, two legged race. Apple bobbing, tug-of-war, jump rope, soccer

§         Zeshahn is meeting with Salmiyeh from TMA to discuss possible activities for the picnic after the meeting

§         PR: Fliers are done. They just need to be printed. Shan is going to talk to Farhan about a printing company.

§         Need to make mail labels for the picnic fliers

§         START ADERTISING – EVERYONE

 

3.      MI Council

§         Ayman and Shan went

§         Recap: Constitution was brought up. Ideas of how to make it.

·         Mission Statement

§         MSA Texas Conference

§         Unity Experiment Picnic – July 29

§         Need to vote on changing the name of MI council to Great Lakes – Dearborn votes NO

§         Need 2 representatives – not recommended to have e-board members on that

§         Other MSAs need to be contacted to encourage them to join the MI Council

§         Next meeting is August 6, 2006

·         Need to vote on next location: Lansing, Saginaw, Toledo – Dearborn votes LANSING

 

4.      Education

§         Started planning for next year. Need the speakers contact list form Suhail

§         Discussion on if Halaqas going to be during Ramadan

·         It will be continued during that time.

§         Need to start contacting speakers soon especially for Ramadan Halaqas.

 

5.      Socials

§         Start Planning for events

§         Community service – once a month

§         Have a social – once a month

§         Possibly have a retreat during the Fall and Winter Semester

§         Work on off campus socials next month

 

6.      Outreach

§         No Jummah June 30th, 2006

§         What outreach activities are being planned for the year.

§         Islamic Awareness Week – Find out when it is. Also maybe we can do the tent idea that was discussed during the first MI council event.

§         Have 2 events a semester

 

7.      Misc

§         Paintball Event

·         If we have any social event in August – then we also need to have an educational event to have a proper balance.

§         Race for the Cure and Other Community Service Events – need to get people hyped up so that they can come. Word of mouth.

·         Have one in August

·         Maybe start community service event later. They tend to be extremely early for people so that could stop them from coming

§         Unity Dinner – Only 4 months away

·         Possible speakers:

¨        Hakeem Jackson

¨        Zaid Shakir

¨        Jaman Badawi/Hanna Sultan

·         Next Meeting Ramy will have a timeline setup to plan for the Dinner

§         Everyone needs to have tentative dates by next meeting
