Executive Board Meeting

1. Opening Du'a by Hodhaifa

2. Community Service

§ May 20 – Blight Busters. Muhammad Bukhami asked that all participants sign the waiver forms by Friday or before the event.

§ Transportation – Option 1 is to take the bus there. Option 2 meet at Dearborn at go to the location from there. Decided that we are going to meet at Dearborn and go to the site from there.

§ Ten people have signed up so far. Publicizing for this community service by Word of mouth and e-mails. E-board attending: Maher, Hodhaifa, Ayman, Nousseiba, Shan, and Hany.

§ For Community Services – needs to be different then last year. Want a variety and more people to attend.

3. Maghrib Institute

§ Ayman got a phone. He will be taking over this event. Needs to contact Eid.

§ Event will be June 9-11 and June 16-18. It will be in the SSB 1500. Event will cost $165 for each person.

§ Need to pass out fliers for this event. Little fliers need to be passed out to different locations off campus. The larger fliers will be put up around campus and the different masjids.

· Locations: Ramy – Unity Center and Tawheed Center; Hany – ICI and Canton; Oussama Khalid – Brownstown; Shan – IAGD and around campus

4. Leadership Conference

§ Idea Liked: Dawa Tent and Getting Eid off

§ Should utilize the ideas given

§ Ideas Dearborn should post: Unity in Diversity

5. MI Council

§ Revived by Farhan, Pat, Hanaa, Amal, Sumayya

§ Had a phone conference on Tuesday

§ Discussed have the Central Zone conference in Michigan

6. Michigan MSA Conference

§ Central Zone Conference: Proposal to have in Michigan due May 30

§ MSA Participants: Dearborn, Ann Arbor, Wayne, Saginaw, Toledo, Oakland, State

§ Conference will be held February or March of 2007. Targeting for 400-600 people to attend.

§ Location in Dearborn

§ Each campus is in charge of something for the proposal. Dearborn will be in charge of site and food.

§ Ramy will take care of the proposal.

§ Sunday May 21 at 10 am there will be a meeting about the conference. Location looking into. UC is closed on Sundays. Possibly in the Library.

7. Future Events: Picnic, UinD

§ Picnic

· It will be between Dearborn and Wayne.

· Date: Two proposed dates that we have is July 15 or July 22. We will have the picnic July 15.

· Hodhaifa will be putting the deposit in.

§ UinD

· Ramadan: September 24 – October 24. Considered having the dinner October 21 but since it is the last 10 days of Ramadan it will be October 14.

· Need to have it different then the previous years in order to have it grow, interesting but also interfaith at the same time.

· Long Term goal – having it in Cobo Hall

· Entertainment

(1) Jewish Rapper – Kevin Cobott: He was at the Amnesty International Poetry slam. Pro Palestine.

(2) Yousif Islam – Have member sing

(3) skits

· Location – Ford Fields again, or Burton Manner. It is going to be in Ford Field but we have to change it up.

· Publicizing

(1) Write letters to congress

(2) Have it announced in news

(3) Invite different channels – channel 4, 2

(4) Press releases

8. Finance

§ Start working on letters for the pledges. Standardize it. Have it send out by the end of this week.
