General Body Meeting

Present: Hodhaifa, Sharif Aref, Tarek Beydoun, Mohammad Sherri, Rashid Beydoun, Maher, Hany, Zeshahn, Ramy, Shan, Suhaib Hanooti, Mohammad Al-saadi, Nabila Ikram, Amal Hassan, Eman, Samar Alqadhi, Abrar Founas, Nousseiba, Amal, Amna Karim, Hadeel Hadidi, Majed Afanah, Brian Berry, Adnan Ahmed, Awais Alem, Kenan Katranji, Amar Awaad

Absent: Rania, Shafi

 

1.    Opening Du'a by Mohammad Al-saadi

 

2.    Elections

§  One candidate per position is running

§  Out of formality there will be meet the candidates

§  Some ideas from meet the candidates

·         Theme every month, work with Muslims and non-Muslims

·         Members more involved with planning

·         Combine halaqas and socials

·         Do community services close to where people live

·         Start a club to fast onces a month

·         Kufi week

·         Islamic Room – have information about Islam and have an Islamic library

¨        Amna, Nabila and Amal are working with Malouk Berry on getting Islamic Studies Program

 

3.    SG Elections

§  Representatives from the Unity Slate came in

 

4.    Central Zone

§  Starting next week Friday – Sunday

§  A bunch of MSAs been working on this conferece

§  Still a chance to register otherwise $20 for day passes

§  Speakers will be good

§  Volunteer orientation wil be next week for food and site

§  Will be submitting Real World Hijab and 24

 

5.    Film Festival

§  A few movies are planned to be submitted

§  Film Festival is next Thursday

 

6.    Generation Next

§  April 14 – Sheikh Ali Sulaiman confirmed

§  Hodhaifa and Abrar will work on sponsorship

§  Ticket prices we will try to keep around $5-$10

§  Food will be a big expense – Ramy and Suhaib will work on that

§  Fliers try to have done by Friday

§  Entertainment – Students will do it. Something by webdnesday

§  Presentations – Ramy, Hodhaifa and other eboard members will present things

§  Nousseiba will work on decoration

§  Ramy will work on getting the VC to come

§  Majed Afana work on volunteers

 

7.    Education

§  Will have halaqa this week and it will be on Jinns

 

8.    MISC

§  MSA has been nominated for 2 awards: Outstanding Student Organization and Outstanding Student Program (Unity Dinner)

§  Off Campus Socials:

·         Cedar Point

·         Detroit Zoo

·         Price is Right
