General Body Meeting

Start: 2:55 pm - End: 4:11 pm

 

Present: Zeshahn, Ramy, Hany, Ian Waldo, Nabila Ikram, Amal Hassan, Aisha Siddiqui, Shaina Chughtai, Nousseiba, Abrar Founas, Sharif Aref, Hodhaifa, Kenan Katrenji, Shan, Maher, Majid Afana, Suhaib Hanooti, Awais Alem, Amna Karim

Absent: Rania, Shafi

 

1.    Opening Du'a by Hany

§  Changed the meeting times from 2:30 to 2:45 so everyone can make it on time. Starting next week the meetings will start promptly at 2:45

 

2.    On-Campus

§  Previous Social

·         Food was good

·         Design of flier was good

·         Bad – only 3 sisters

§  Piston’s Event went well want to see more events like that

§  Film Festival – March 15

·         Deadline to submit film is March 9th

·         Each group should pre-register

§  Ski Trip – February 28

·         Mt. Holly either from 9 – 5:30 or 3 – 10. 9-5:30 a good time

·         Will cost about $35

¨        Ski $15

¨        Snowboard $18

¨        Ski Lift $15

§  Community Service – Muslim Center Saturday February 17

 

3.    Education

§  Will be focused learning

§  Mondays at 3:00 and Tuesday at 3:30

§  Book will be selected

§  Email for people to ask them to signup otherwise have them attend

§  If there is no circle set up get a Halaqa

¨        Possible speakers are Sh. Ali Leyla, Saeed Khan, Farhan Azeez, Abdul Warih, Imam Salie, Hossam Musa or Sheikh Musa

 

4.    Outreach

§  Khatib for this Friday is Dr. Ridwan Baytiyah.

§  Following week Usama Khalid

§  Dawah Event

·         Ask a Muslim – earliest we can get the stage is March 8. look at Tuesday events as well

·         Workshop – during the week for a few hours

§  Will be on Dearborn Campus, Fairlane Center

§  Registration has begun - $40 for locals, $15 off if you are volunteering

·         Dearborn Campus is in charge of food and site, sign up

 

5.    PR

§  To many emails are going through to the email list. Email twice a week about upcoming events

 

6.    MISC

§  Central Zone Conference – March 30 – April 1

·         Early Registration ending soon

§  Professor concern

§  Elections

·         Tomorrow is the last day to be a member of MSA in order for them to votes

·         Still need to select a commissioner
