Meeting Minutes February 15, 2007

General Body Meeting

Start: 2:47 pm - End: 3:44 pm

 

Present: Ramy, Zeshahn, Shan, Suhaib Hanooti, Maher, Shafi, Mohammad, Sharif Aref, Hodhaifa, Kenan Katranji, Rania, Nabila Ikram, Amal Hassan, Amna Karim, Hany, Majid Afana,

Absent: Nousseiba

 

1.    Opening Du'a by Zeshahn

 

2.    Education

§  Circles

·         Love to see more people there

·         Going to have a leader? – Original plan but depends on if we can find someone

·         Discussion was good – it was a good reminder

¨        A lot of discussion

·         Probably would be better to have it separated

·         Could buy a few book

¨        People are assigned a chapter to read and do additional reading and research for their part

·         Read the packets before the next meeting to save time

¨        Send link to the whole list

·         Have a goal for each person to bring 3 more people

¨        Mondays: 3:00 pm

¨        Tuesday: 3:30 pm

·         Have someone in charge of Tuesdays

·         Send out an email

 

3.    Outreach

§  Dawah

·         Couldn’t get the stage for ask a Muslim

·         Have a promotional table on Tuesday February 20

¨        Have brochers, information about central zone, and have the Ask a Muslim event

¨        Have a sign and tell people that if they ask 2 serious questions then they can get chocolate

·         Dawah Workshop

¨        Sometime around March 22

§  Jummah – Usama Khalid

·         Need to put up the sign again

 

4.    On-Campus

§  Community Service – Saturday February 17 at the Muslim Center

·         Only a few people have signed up already

§  Film Festival – March 15

·         People start making their films

·         Judging

¨        Have general guide lines for judging

¨        Have a secret committee

·         Friday February 23 –deadline to register

·         Friday March 9 – submit the film

§  Ski trip – Mt. Holly

·         About $35

·         It was asked to have it separated so the sisters could go Tuesday February 27 and brothers go Wednesday February 28

 

5.    Central Zone

§  Need to have volunteers sign up

§  Volunteers from Dearborn will be responsible of site and food (serving and picking up)

 

6.    MISC

§  Generation Next – Might be April 14/15 – still in the air. Location might be either IAGD or Unity Center

§  Elections – sometime in March. Get more active or make people know that you are interested in running

§  September – possible community service event – breast cancer event 3 days long

·         IVCF – a trip to South Carolina for Habitat for Humanity asked if anyone was interested
